SPORTS RUN DOWN OF THE WEEK

Good day beautiful football fans, i must say we all feel the same way (bored) no club football. Country football  is important, but club football is 'importanter' lol. A lot of good things took place these week in the beautiful world of football from the ballon d'or nominations to the retirement of a legend from the beautiful game,and also the UEFA nations league and we will be looking at our player of the week which will actually surprise you.

Odion Igoalllo( Ighalo) silencing critics: 

The Chinese super league star has actually been on the bad books for so many Nigerians as the super eagles star was forced to disable his comment section on Instagram. Due to his awful performance during the world cup, but let's say old things are passed away,as the in form striker scored his first international hat-trick for the super eagles on Saturday in what was a must win game against Libya in the AFCON qualifiers. Well I guess he can now enable the comment section so the fans can give him some credit.

Super eagles too strong for Libya:

 

Its really not often you get to hear these from the super eagles, as they were too hot to handle for the Libyans. An early goal from odion igoalllo(ighalo) made life a bit difficult for the Libyans despite the early goal,the super eagles were actually not impressive in the first half as the Libyans had a lot of the possession. But a second half inspired by the in form Chinese based striker proved to be the difference. Other notable performances where Alex Iwobi, Etebo, Ndidi,and Henry, a lot of people would like to put Samuel Kalu but asides the wonderful goal he scored he was very sloppy. Happy times ahead for the super eagles as the team lacked key players like moses Simon, Brian Idowu,and Shehu who was injured early. Well I would like to see the likes of Nwakali, Junior Laposa, get lots of chances with the eagles. On a brighter note the eagles need to pick up another three points away against the Libyans in Algeria to boost qualifications to next years AFCON tournament.

The king is back(Igwe)

One of the greatest strikers in the history of football is going back to where it all started,not as a player but as a coach. Am talking about no other person than  Thiery (Igwe) Henry,who has been appointed as the the new coach of As monaco after the departure of Leonardo Jardim, Henry who was the assistant manger of the red devils of Belgium will finally get his chance at management,the recent trend of former premier league stars taking on management is actually interesting as Frank Lampard coaching Derby county, Stevie Gerrard coaching Rangers,Ryan Giggs coaching Wales,now Henry coaching Monaco is exactly what football needs I can only imagine scenes when these managers become the coaches of the premier league clubs they played for,well that's stuff dreams are made of,finger crossed as we anticipated the turn around of As monaco, all the best king.

Ballon d'or nominations:

In recent years individual awards has actually been more of a popularity contest among goal scorers and trophy winners. Forgetting that football is not tennis neither is it golf or boxing, its a team sport as individual players awards should be given based on individual performances not trophies or in some cases goals as defenders too also has the right to win that award as keeping clean sheets are as important as goal scoring,but in past awards its been judged by how many trophies you won last season of how many goals you scored which has seen Ronaldo and Messi as the only winners more or less like football dictatorship. The earlier award that took place weeks back(FIFA best awards) had alot of controversies, happy to let you know that these one is no better. There are many top names that deserved to be here but for some strange reasons were ommited for reasons am not sure of. Here are names that were missing and players that they should replace

 David de gea

The Manchester united shot stopper, was named in the best eleven team at the FIFA best awards fails to make  the cut here.while Hugo lloris gets mentioned here,maybe due to his team winning the world cup,but the French keeper was average all season and was barely tested throughout the world cup,the only moment he was should be against Argentina where he conceded 3 goals,yes he made a blunder also in the final. Arguments could also be made about David de gea during the world cup as the united man was very poor during the world cup conceding six goals with six shots,but in the league David was far the superior keeper.

Leroy sane

Sane had a very impressive campaign with Manchester city after winning the double,but was dropped by the German national team side,maybe that's one of the reason these wizard was not mentioned,but I actually feel he was far better than sadio mane in the premier league,mane was better in the champions league,but overall last season sane was more productive for city,mane had a very average season by his standard, so I replace sane with mane. That was close ,Leroy sane had 15 assist to Mane's 7,sane made 1.8 key passes to Mane's 1.7, sane scored 14 goals to Mane's 10 in the league.

 

David Silva 

Major absentee in the list considering the list has the name of pogdab( pogba) isco,David silver was one of the brain behind city's success, scoring goals and creating chances,but if u get lucky to be in a good team where u give side passes and average performances  but win the world cup that's all that really matters.

Ciro immobile 

The Lazio striker was one of the best strikers in Europe last year scoring 41 goals in all competition, but Karim benzema which lukaku and laccazete  out scored last season  gets mentioned.

Hope in the future these players get justice.

Player of the week:

Finally on these week's run down,our player of the week is no other person than "Sergio Ramos" the Spanish defender scored his 96th career goal against wales on Wednesday,96 goal for a defender a lot of strikers in their life time can't boast of such record,it shows his importance on both sides of the pitch.
